I can work while on vacation? Lucky me.

Vacation with Willis

I almost didn’t do a blog today. Can you blame me? It’s 68°, the sun is shining, and I’m sitting on a balcony overlooking the ocean at Shell Beach. So if today’s blog seems lackluster, you’ll know why.

On last year’s family vacation I couldn’t do a lick of work because I didn’t have an iPad and a hotspot. This year, different story. I caved and bought an iPad. I just wanted to watch movies on it and look up recipes. I didn’t see the negative ramifications. That it could be used for something other than entertainment and self gratification. When I told Jen I was going to take a vacation from my blog. Let it go into reruns or something. Jen reminded me I could also do my blog on my neat new iPad. “But I don’t have a topic”, I complained. “Blog about your vacation”, she responded.

A duller subject could not be broached. I go limp when I arrive to my vacation destination. I’m like Bernie in “Weekend at Bernie’s”, sure, I’ll do whatever you want, but you have to drag me around to get me to do so. Unless it involves sitting, cooking or drinking, I’m dead-ish.

For instance, with the declaration- “Let’s go on a hike” – I will have to be dragged. However, “Let’s chill on the beach and have a beer”- I am suddenly self-propelled.

Our most expensive purchase at the grocery store in preparation for a trip are “trash mags”, at least that’s what we call them. I enjoy nothing more than parking my butt in a beach chair with a cold one and catching up on what’s going on with Lindsey (Lohan).

Trash Mags are entertaining AND informative.

So what’s this have to do with a design blog? Absolutely nothing. And that’s the point I guess. Vacation shouldn’t have anything to do with work. And with that I say, “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere.”

I bid you all adieu.

i like reading trash mags

I’m so jealous! No beaches in Colorado except for the water reservoirs about the size of Ming Lake. I have never ventured to hang out at one of our “beaches.” After spending our childhood summers at Pismo, it’s hard to get excited about sitting in a lawn chair next to a pond. Hope you’re having a great vacation! Sophie keeps us all abreast of what you’re all up to … via FB! Love to the Fam!!
